Earl Kitchen er, British minister of war, and his staff were on board the British cruiser Hampshire, which was sunk by a mine or torpedo off , the Orkney Islands last night. .... It is feared that all were lost. Four boats were seen to Jeave the Hampshire, but a heavy $ea was running. Only a capsized boat and some bodies have been found. Early Kitchener was on his way to Russia. , ' Admiral Jellicoe, commander of the British grand fleet, reports there is little hope that thee were any survjvors. Sir William Robertson! chief of the imperial staff, is in London. The names of the members of Earl Kitchener's staffs have not yet been learned. Leave out the vote of Roxboro and he was nominated by the far mers with a majority of about one hundred votes. Of .course,' Roxboro voted almost unanimous ly for him, making his." majority about two hundred ami fifty. Roxboro and Person County are! proud Of Dr. Tucker -'and wish that Virgin1 a would contribute more of his kind. Oscar Cunningham , Has Passed Away. Mr. Qscnr G. Cunnin&rham, son of Mr. ami Mrs. E. Cunn ing ham. died at the home-of his parents at Waxhaw, several days ago after a linyor'mg 'illness of several months duration and' the interment was made in the Waxhaw cemetery. The young man was a student at Weaver Col lege, this State, when his illness that proved fatal developed. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and ?rs. O. E. Cunningham, and three sisters and three broth rs, namely Mrs. II. W. McCain of High Point, Miss Fay Cunning-1 ham of Rockingham. Miss Mary Cunningham of Waxhaw, Mr. C. C.
